   Rockstar officially announced that active development on the next Grand Theft Auto was 'well underway' — the first confirmation the game existed.

2. Dec 5, 2023Confirmed

   Trailer 1 — the reveal

   The first official trailer confirmed a return to Vice City in the state of Leonida and gave a first look at Lucia. It pointed to a 2025 launch window.

3. May 2, 2025Confirmed

   Release date set for May 26, 2026

   Rockstar's first firm date — already a delay from the original 2025 window.

4. May 6, 2025Confirmed

   Trailer 2 and the cast

   The second trailer arrived with official bios: protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, plus a supporting cast including Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, the duo Real Dimez and Raul Bautista.

5. Nov 6, 2025Confirmed

   Delayed to November 19, 2026

   Rockstar pushed the date back about six months with an apology, citing the extra time needed to finish with the expected level of polish.

6. Jun 25, 2026Confirmed

   Pre-orders open — pricing & editions confirmed

   Rockstar opened pre-orders worldwide: Standard Edition $79.99, Ultimate Edition $99.99, with the Vintage Vice City Pack as the pre-order bonus. A third trailer was still not dated or released.

   Digital preload begins

   Digital pre-orders can preload GTA 6 starting one week before launch.
